Woodshedding: practicing & writing

 When I’m not on the road making a spectacle of myself, I tend to mole out in my studio & become introspective, introverted and reclusive. However, I did venture out to a couple of Jams recently and had a lot of fun! I was at Kelly’s All-Star Jam at Jazzy Jones in Langley on Sunday, saw a bunch of old friends I hadn’t seen in years, and met some great players I’d never jammed with before. I had so much fun, I think I’m going to have to hit these jams more often!
        I’ve also uploaded lyrics to the first Colin Kadey CD, Coming Into Focus, and a bio to my blog if anyone wants to check it out…

I’d like to thank all the friendly folk at the Langley Farmer’s Market for making yesterday one of the most pleasurable gigs I can remember

Everyone was so kind and generous, the weather was beautiful, the sky blue, the air sweet with the scents of the market wares. Yesterday was the last Farmer’s Market gig of the season – it was a blast, and I hope to see everyone again next year.

Hello again my friends, lovers, ex-wives, drinking buddies & casual acquaintances;

Has it really been ten years since my last solo CD? I’m excited about the new album, and a new tour in the spring, and I look forward to seeing everyone.
Shaun promises we’ll be mixing soon, so the wait is almost over for the new CD. Everyone who’s heard the rough mixes thinks it’s better than “Focus”. We’ve augmented the sound with a fifth piece this time – Juno Award winning violin virtuoso Jesse Zubot contributes his impressive talents, giving the project a rootsier folk vibe than its predecessor. The quintet on the new album includes Zubot, John Kieselhorst (guitar), Brian Newcombe (bass), Don Powrie (drums), and C.W. (keys, harps, vocals).
Once again, I used all local talent in the production in an attempt to soak up as much Pacific North West spirit as possible. I want you to smell the trees. The idea is to paint a picture with words and sounds of a time and a place. The place is here, and the time is now.
